Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella Insurance

What is Umbrella Insurance?

Umbrella Insurance is additional liability coverage that is in excess of your primary insurance policies. It helps fill gaps in your existing policies by extending liability limits and offering additional, broadened coverage for exposures that may not be covered under typical programs. The primary function is to provide additional coverage against expensive lawsuits and defense costs.

How much insurance is enough?

Many people believe that they have sufficient limits of liability coverage on their automobiles, home, farm, or recreational equipment. However, in today’s legal environment, liability judgments commonly soar to million-dollar payouts or far beyond. North Star’s Personal and Commercial Umbrella Programs are designed to protect you in these types of situations.

North Star Umbrella program highlights:

  • Extends your liability protection beyond the limits of your basic North Star automobile, homeowners, farmowners, and commercial policies. Available in $1 million increments up to $5 million (Up to $10 million for Farm or Commercial).

  • Personal injury coverage protects you against alleged acts of libel, slander, wrongful eviction, defamation of character, and other acts that may not be covered by your underlying policies.

  • Covers legal fees to defend against lawsuits brought on by claims covered by the policy.

  • Coverage is offered on a worldwide basis.

  • Optional coverage for Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists coverage is also available.
