Meyer Appointed to North Star Mutual Board of Directors


Karen Meyer, of Wheaton, IL, was appointed to North Star Mutual Insurance Company’s board of directors in October 2021.

Meyer is newly retired from General Reinsurance Corporation, where she worked for almost 32 years, most recently as a treaty account executive and SVP on Gen Re’s Mutual Practice team. In addition to managing all lines of P&C business for her client assignments, her responsibilities included providing product support to her Mutual company clients, as well as prospecting new clients across the US. Her territory ranged from Wyoming to Massachusetts.

Meyer is originally from North Carolina and a graduate of the University of NC Chapel Hill, with a degree in Mathematical Sciences and a concentration in Actuarial Science. She started her career in insurance as a personal lines underwriter for Crum & Forster in Durham, NC and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Meyer has spoken at various NAMIC and CPCU events over the years on topics ranging from industry best practices to specific insurance products. She is currently a member of the Association of Professional Insurance Women in Chicago, IL. Her industry expertise and extensive knowledge of reinsurance and actuarial science make her an excellent addition to the North Star Mutual Board of Directors.
