The successful candidate will investigate property and casualty claims in Central South Dakota and in localized catastrophe situations as assigned. In order to efficiently and effectively perform the position, it is necessary to have the staff member located in the territory assigned. Optimal location for this position is in or around the counties of Campbell, McPherson, Walworth, Edmunds, Potter, Faulk, Stanley, Sully, Hyde, Hand, Hughes, Jones, and Lyman.
Applicants must be capable of following direction and assisting other staff members, yet be a self-starter and able to think and work on their own. Having the ability to document and manage first and third party claim files in compliance with state law and company policy; conduct recorded statements; negotiate settlements; estimate damages; and prepare detailed reports all fall within this job description.
As a representative of the company, this position requires a person to appear and conduct them self professionally while maintaining rapport with our policy holders and Agent partners. The position duties also include physically demanding activities (including climbing), and travel when necessary outside of the assigned territory.
Preference for this position will be given to those with basic construction, farm, math and technology skills. This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
