The person who holds this position will assist the Research and Development Department Manager with any projects the department may have including the development of new products and working with product changes. They will need to assist with the review of current programs, preparation of rate and program comparisons, preparation of special loss ratio reports and once research has been completed, be able to make a preliminary recommendation.
This position will also include the monitoring and recommendations of rate, rule, form, and coverage changes. At times, this position will also include the research and development of forms, policies, rates, and rules for all types of policies, including making coverage and rate comparisons and working on improving and updating North Star’s policies. This position requires the ability to monitor changes being made by AAIS, ISO, or changes evolving from the implementation of state and federal laws. Policy, rate, rule and/or form filings also need to be compiled and sent to the Insurance Department for approval.
This position requires the ability to supervise others and be a resource person for the technicians in the department. It also requires the ability to work cooperatively with other company departments in order to accomplish changes that need to be made to the Agent Manual, rates, rules, forms, or coverages.
This position requires a college degree in a related field or a minimum of five (5) years related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The person holding this position must have the ability to read and analyze insurance manuals and forms, be able to communicate with others, have good listening skills, be able to write reports, memos and business correspondence. Must also have good grammar, computer, mathematical, analytical and decision-making skills. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Company’s product programs, agent manuals, bureau manuals and policy forms.
